This weekend was my turn again. Another long, exhausting week has both of us looking forward to some quality relaxation. We managed to sleep in until noon on Saturday, woke up to eat brunch, then took naps. I knew it was going to take some serious motivation to get us both out of the house, but I was excited for my plans to unfold.
Chris and I got ready and got in the truck. I really wasn't sure what the dress code would be, but I opted for casual. About 35 minutes east of El Paso is the small town of Fabens, TX. Fabens happens to be home of Cattleman's Steakhouse, voted Manliest Steakhouse in America. The ranch was about 10 miles off the highway down a long, winding two lane road. Cattleman's Steakhouse at Indian Cliffs Ranch is a working ranch, zoo, movie set, restaurant, etc. There are mazes and playgrounds scattered throughout the grounds, as well as pavilions and areas available for rent. One pavilion happened to be rented by a family reunion which had hired a mariachi band. The zoo was comprised of an ostrich, goats, rabbits, free-roaming peacocks, buffalo, longhorns, alpacas, rattlesnakes, sheep, donkeys, horses and small birds. A large lake greeted us upon entering the grounds. The ranch has also been used as a movie set for various movies. Most of the movies filmed here were either western themed or war-based action movies. Tanks and other movie props were left behind by the production companies for visitors to enjoy. On Sundays, hay rides tour the grounds to give visitors a close-up view of some of these movie sets. There was also a gift shop inside the main building.

As soon as we arrived, we put our name in for a table and headed outside to explore the ranch and the zoo. With perfect timing we made it back inside to get seated. We ordered a pitcher of sangria (which was fabulous), as well as a shrimp cocktail (also fabulous). The atmosphere inside was very nice. Being a steakhouse, we both had to get steak. Each steak is trimmed that day. Needless to say, it was incredibly fresh. Chris splurged on the lobster and steak and I treated myself to a small filet mignon. The meal was served family style with bowls of coleslaw, beans and rolls brought to the table. We each had a baked potato with our meal as well. The food was great, the service was great and the grounds were beautiful. Getting out of the city was very relaxing, if only for a couple hours. Another successful date night :)
